Keeping Fit in Winter

Even though its chilly out, we still need to keep our pets in tip top condition. Here at Pet City we have a range of weather resistant coats, pet lights and shoes to help keep your pet safe and comfortable during their winter walks. Being that we all tend to get a little bit lazier when the weather is dreary, the weight does tend to sneak on the waist line a bit quicker in the cold. Have you considered popping your pet onto a reduced calorie diet for this time of year? If you pet isn’t using the same amount of energy as what they would in the summer months, they will start to store it and turn into tubbies! Pop in with your pet and have a chat with our friendly staff about maintaining a healthy weight for your pet this winter!

We have ran out of shredded paper for our puppies!!! If you have or know of someone who has some shredded paper that needs to be put to good use, please bring it to us!! We go through a huge amount whilst maintaining our puppies and small animals and anything we can get would be appreciated!!

It’s certainly getting chilly out – winter is on its way!! How is your pet handling the weather changes? We have just released our new seasons dog coats and jumpers. With sizes ranging from 20cm to 75cm, we are bound to have something for your pet.

Guinea Pig Dental Care

When was the last time you checked your guinea pigs teeth? Being a rodent, rabbits, rats, mice and guinea pigs teeth never stop growing. It is vital that your pet is supplied with things the gnaw so they can keep their teeth in good condition and at a healthy length.

Frilled Neck Lizards!

We are SOOOOO excited about this one!! Baby Frilled Necked Lizards are going to be available right here in Balcatta on Friday!!! We have see photos and they look adorable! Come in a visit them this weekend!!

They are a Category 4 reptile in relation to the license requirements. While they are only quite small at the moment, a full size Frilled Neck is quite big. If you are considering becoming an owner of a Frilled Neck Lizard come and have a chat with the team in regards to what you will need to keep a healthy lizard.

Doggy Going Underground?

After a crazy day at work it always tops it off to come home and find your Fido friend in his newly dug trench. Little do most pet owners realise is that whilst you have been out all day, he has been at home BORED  and craving something to do. Most of the time dogs dig to satisfy boredom ( or find that treat they buried 8 months before hand).

There are a few things that we can do to help your pet stay mentally stimulated whilst we are away. Toys are vital!! Try changing your dogs existing toys by filling them with different flavoured treats, pop them in the freezer and rotate between a selection of toys each day so he isn’t seeing the same ones day in and out. Kongs, Busy Buddy, squeaky toys, balls and even his very own play sand pit are all wonderful tools that can be used to keep your dogs mind busy.

Repellent sprays and granules are available to help keep pooch out areas and pot plants.

If pooch is being a real problem then there are devices that, with training, assist in saving your beloved garden beds. Feel more than welcome to come in and have a chat with our team about different ways of helping your dog get through each day whilst your away!

Make Your Reptile Shine!

To ensure your reptile glows with health, it is very important to keep their UV globes / tubes current! Even though the globes are illuminating doesn’t not necessarily mean they are emitting the required UV rays if they have been in use for over 12 months. Without the proper UV lighting, your reptile may not be able to digest and utilise their food properly. Over time this can become a major threat to your reptiles health. Each year, freshen your globes and this will help keep your reptile in tip top condition. If you aren’t sure about what your reptiles needs are in terms of lighting or any other element in their care, come in a have a chat – we are open late night tonight until 7pm!

Stinky Pooch Go Bye Bye

Stinky dog. Eww. Enough said.

Our fav four legged mates always manage to find the least desirable things to lie in and play with. They coat themselves in this lovely found substance and then always appear shocked when they don’t get a cuddle. We have a HUGE range of shampoos and conditioners with something to help keep your doggy smelly yummy, or at least not a rubbish bin. Our Lop x bunnies ear certainly do! We have available now 2 stunning Lopp x Angora bunnies. They are amazingly friendly, bounding over to the door when it is opened and absolutely adorable! One is a smoky Himalayan point and the other is black and white. Rabbits make wonderful pets for the young and ...well not so young. They are trainable, love cuddles and aren’t quite as demanding as a dog. If you are looking for a pet for your apartment then a bunny may just be the one for you! Just keep them away from your power cords as your bunny may just fancy them as a snack.

They will not be here for long so if you are interested in getting a bunny, best you bounce in quick!

Neo in Balcatta!!

We have a beautiful little girl in need of a loving family. She is a Neapolitan  Mastiff x Bull Arab and is the most gentle, snugly giant you could meet. If you have any enquiries to make on her or any of our other puppies give us a call on 9344 6629. We are open until 4pm today =D
